Scruba-dub-dub bath putty in the tub!
Our next instalment of kid friendly makes this month, it’s bubblegum bath putty time! Ever struggled getting the kids excited about bath time, well worry no more, we have the answer, this gooey soapy creation will be a sure hit. And surprisingly, only uses a few household ingredients.
What you’ll need for your bath putty
- Mixing bowl
- Small pipette
- Your hands
- 100ml Natural clear base or regular liquid soap
- 130g corn starch or tapioca starch
- Liquid dye or food colourant (a few drops)
- Up to 1ml Bubblegum fragrance (optional)
Step 1: Colour the liquid base, add 1 drop at a time until you get the desired colour (please note the colour will dilute when the corn starch is added, think of it like adding white to you paint pallet)
Step 2: Add the fragrance (if you are using it) 1 drop at a time, until your preferred scent is achieved.
Step 3: Next add the corn starch to the liquid mixture a spoonful at a time, mixing until incorporated each time.
Step 4: Once it becomes too difficult to stir using the spoon, get your hands stuck in. Begin kneading it (just like making bread) until the mixture slowly comes together, keep adding corn starch until the mixture forms a dough like consistency.
Step 5: Use immediately! You could try and store it in an air tight container, but please be aware it will start to dry out, so for the freshest most squidgy fun results use quickly after making.
Have a putty good time! As always, we’d love to see how you got along, please feel free to post any comments below, or send photos of your own makes to firstname.lastname@example.org or tag us on instagram @thesoapkitchenuk
