A typical day for The Dartmoor Skincare Company starts with the school run! I then meet with mum in her Dartmoor Kitchen where we discuss the products, what we need to make and any orders that need to be placed. Dad is often around and being a business mentor for the Princes Trust, I’ll more often than not be picking his business brains!
At 9.30am I start work in my beauty treatment room doing everything from facials to massage, while mum makes a batch of soap. I’ll pop back into the kitchen in-between seeing clients and help cut soap, hand label products or pack up waiting online orders.
I’ll leave mums house at 3pm for the school run and then often in the evenings reply to emails, write articles and maybe pack up more website orders. I write blogs for my own website as well as writing a monthly column for The Moorlander newspaper.
Its definitely a labour of love and a seven days a week kind of job, but doing something you love and are passionate about never feels like work. It’s such a blessing to be able to do all this alongside family in such a beautiful setting.
