Doggy Moisturiser

In honour of national love your pet day, I thought it would be a good opportunity to highlight that the soap kitchen sells products that can be used in a variety of items.  The same as people, dogs can suffer from dry and cracked feet. My black lab is very prone to small cracks in his paws. Very cold and very hot temperatures will dry out and damage the pads of their feet and this can be really painful. This moisturiser can also be used on your dogs nose as it is made from all natural and gentle ingredients.

Ingredients

2 tbsp /30g shea butter

2 tbsp 30g white beeswax

3 tbsp (45g) coconut oil

27g sweet almond oil

½ tsp (2.5ml) Vitamin E oil

Equipment

Weighing Scales

Saucepan

Glass bowl or jug (to fit into saucepan to make a double boiler)

Measuring spoons

Mixing spoon

Jars or tins and lids for storage (Recipe makes approx 130g)

Method

  • Fill the saucepan approx. half way with water and place on a low heat
  • Weigh all of the ingredients into the glass bowl/jug and carefully place over the hot water in the saucepan.
  • Once the oils and wax is completely melted remove from the heat and add the vitamin E .
  • Stir well and pour into your chosen containers, let the balm cool and set before sealing with a lid.

Use as and when your dog is in need of a little puppy paw pampering!
