Dinosaur Egg Bath Bomb

With the approach of the summer holidays we thought we would show you how easy it is to make some wonderful creative bath bombs. Dinosaur Eggs!

These textured, ageing eggs only need a few ingredients to make. You can experiment with colours and fragrances to produce a variety of effects and smells suited to your preference. Why not get the kids involved and let them pick some wacky colours and fragrances!

We have chosen to create two different coloured eggs in bubble gum and candyfloss fragrance. This recipe is designed for multiple fragrances and colours. If making one batch do not separate.

You will need:

  • Weighing Scales
  • Mixing Bowl
  • 2 x small bowls
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Egg Moulds (Large & Small)

Ingredients:

Method:

Step 1 – Weigh out all your ingredients and put into appropriate containers.

Step 2 – Put your bicarbonate of soda and citric acid into a bowl, mix well, then split the mixture evenly into two and separate into individual bowls.

Step 3 – In one bowl add your bubble gum fragrance. Use your hands to blend the fragrance into the bicarb and citric. Mix thoroughly and work away any lumps that may have formed.

Step 4 – Use a measuring spoon to add a small amount of blue pigment. Add a small amount at a time to determine your colour preference. We only wanted a subtle hint of blue.

Step 5 – Give everything a good mix with your hands to ensure the fragrance and colour pigment has completely blended in.

Step 6 – This step needs patience. Using a hand sprayer, a little at a time add water to the mix. Make sure you continuously mix to avoid it fizzing up in the bowl and only add enough water so that the mixture starts to hold together when lightly squeezed in your hand.

Step 7 – Once the consistency is correct add a sprinkle of black pigment (DO NOT MIX), fill each half of your moulds just proud of the surface, one side fuller than the other. Press together for a few moments ensuring they are lined up and the correct way round.

Step 8 – Tidy up the edges and leave your bath bomb to dry in its mould until completely solid. Repeat until the mixture is used up.

Step 9 – Follow steps 3, 6, 7 & 8 using the candyfloss fragrance.

Step 10 – Once all bath bombs are completely solid remove from moulds. Sprinkle the gold glitter onto a flat surface and gently roll each dinosaur egg across the glitter to finish with a nice sparkle!
