How To Make Aloe, Honey & Cucumber Lotion

A popular ingredient in lotions and cream, Aloe Vera has amazing antioxidant and antibacterial properties that help to improve your skin. From treating sores to accelerating healing it is sometimes described as the 'wonder plant' due to its many benefits, cooling nature and soothing abilities.
Why is Honey good for your skin?
Honey is extremely moisturising and soothing, full of antioxidants and naturally antibacterial. Known for helping you glow, as it's properties are super beneficial for your skin. It also adds a touch of sweetness to any skincare recipe and due to it's hydrating properties it penetrates deep into your skin to leave you feeling refreshed and revitalised
is Cucumber good for your skin?
Cucumber contains both Vitamin C and caffeic acid, both are known help to rejuvenate and hydrate your skin. Cucumber also helps to reduce inflamed or irritated skin and it's high water content means it is refreshing and nutritional. That is why you often see spa lovers with two slices covering their eyes to help keep their skin refreshed.
The combination of these three ingredients create a revitalising and fresh lotion that is gentle on your skin and delicately fragrant!
This recipe makes approximately 250ml of lotion.
Equipment for Making a Lotion
• Two Medium Sauce Pans
• Hand Blender
• Measuring Spoon
• Spatula
• Thermometer
• Suitable Containers & Closures
Ingredients for Making a Lotion
Phase One
• 0.3g Dissolvine (Chelator)
• 5g Honey Powder
• 120g Aloe 10:1
Phase Two
• 9g Cucumber Seed Oil
• 9g Rice Bran Oil
• 3.25g Cetyl Alcohol
• 3.25 Steareth 21
Other
• 1.5g Fragrance Oil
How to make your own Lotion...
- Firstly, weigh out your ingredients for Phase One and place into one of your sauce pans.
- Next heat Phase One until it reaches 70°C.
- While Phase One is heating measure out your Phase Two ingredients into your other pan and heat this to 70°C.
- Once your Phase Two ingredients have melted and both Phases are the same temperature slowly pour Phase Two into Phase One and mix together using a hand blender.
- Once all ingredients are mixed blend for approximately 10 seconds every 5 minutes roughly. Continue until cooled (once the mixture reaches 45°C).
- Then add in your fragrance, mix until evenly dispersed through your lotion.
- Finally pour your lotion into your chosen container, seal with a closure. Then you can enjoy your Aloe, Honey & Cucumber Lotion!
How often should you apply Aloe lotion?
Aloe lotion is very refreshing, due to the ingredients used it provides excellent moisturising properties to stimulate collagen and improve the lines and wrinkles on your skin. This lotion is best applied once or twice a day, first thing in the morning or just before bed.
What is the most suitable container for a lotion?
Picking a container for your lotion usually depends on the viscosity of your cream. A thinner lotion is best with a bottle and pump or squeezy tube, whereas a thicker more butter like cream works better in a jar.
